The moment has arrived! pORTAL has been released. All standard reports have been added to pORTAL as well as others. An effort has been made to introduce new analysis and comparative reporting for sales information. Additional reports will be continually added to new releases of pORTAL and we ask for your help.

What reports are you using? What reports would you like to see? What reports need enhancement? Let us know. We're listening.

Using the Impulse Items report, you can code your impulse buy items for printing on a special quick report. You would use a product feature code of 5 for this.

ComCash 8.1 Patch 1 Locks up/ Memory leak

There is a known bug in the latest released patched. This bug will cause ComCash Point of Sale to crash after running a number of sales. This is a known bug and has been reported to ComCash development.

A workaround for this bug will be to periodically minimize ComCash POS when not in use. This bug has been recreated in the lab and reported by some high traffic End-Users and may not effect you. In order to minimize your risk of being effected by this bug you will want to minimize POS after approximately 20 transactions. You do not need to close POS (in fact doing so will not help in this case).

Best Sellers

There are 4 'Best Seller' reports available. Each report is basically the same with different sorting of what you would consider your best selling products. These reports are all part of the standard report package.

The basic Best Sellers report (the one most similar to the one found in ComCash) is ID 3023 "Best Sellers". This report is sorted by PLU.

The remaining 3 reports list the products by rank. Each report has a different rank group.

ID 3024 "Best Sellers by Quantity Sold"
Rank your products by the quantity you've sold. Your most sold items will be ranked at the top of the list.

ID 3089 "Best Sellers by Gross Margin Percentage"
Rank your products by the margin percentage you make.

ID 3090 "Best Sellers by Gross Margin Dollars"
Rank your products by the margin dollars you made.

This sounds similar to what happened when MS sued SCO. I hope the results are the same where it gets dismissed. Because if MS succeeds, it sounds like Linux vendors will have to pay, maybe the end user.

40 column (receipt printer) format reports...

So, we have had a few requests now for 40 column reports. That is to say people want to be able to run reports to their receipt printers. How many of you out there are looking for this feature? What reports would you like to see converted to this new format?

The requirement (keep in mind this is not a LIMITATION, it is in fact a decision we have made and therefore a REQUIREMENT) is to be using an Epson receipt printer. Most any current model will work, provided you have the correct drivers. The model we currently recommend is the TM-88IV.

In order for receipt printers to print at their top rated speed we are forced to use a font that is native to the printer. This places major limitations on what we can do for style and formatting on reports, but there are a few options. Lets hear what you would like to see.

Inventory/PLU Linking

Is anyone besides me having trouble with their inventory?

I have gone from ordering twice a week to once a week. Came in this morning and was out of all sorts of things I shouldn't have been out of. So I sat down to do an order (I order by high/low) and most of the things I needed didn't come up on the order. Went into Manager to check my high/low values and found all sorts of errors in my inventory. An example: On one brand of cigarette, I had 5 cartons on hand; manager said that I had 1 carton and 45 packs. What's going on with that? I ended up going over every item in the store and checking it against what manager said I should have and made tons and tons of on hand adjustments.

My wholesaler has been out of some items, so I went so far as to pull my invoices and receiving reports to see if I had received something I hadn't gotten, and I was right on those things. Went into PLU linking, unlinked and relinked several things -- don't know what else to do.

Impulse Buys

Impulse Buys Report (id 3131)

Your registers/counter space can be a valuable marketing tool. The space works well for impulse buy items. And with impulse items, an item may sell well in one checkout lane and not in another. This report is designed to help you see what is selling, how much is selling and where it is selling.

The report also contains information relating to the current QOH of the item; this allows for easy spot check inventory counts on those, sometimes, easy walk-off items.

Key information presented on the report:

Sales of impulse items ranked by quantity sold by register
Dollar value of sales
Dollar value of profit
Gross margin
Report by working (store EOD) date or by calendar date
QOH at the time of the report

Items are flagged by coding the product as a "Feature Code" 5 item. (Feature Code is a UDF defined field that will be set by the pBITS installer program for this report. Feature Code will be used in most pBITS report that require product coding. Feature Code will use menuitem.UDFNum3 (Product UDF Number 3).)

A sample of this report is coming shortly. As always, we welcome comments and suggestions.

The new EOD report is ready. We sent an email with a sample report PDF attached. The report has 3 basic sections. I summarize each section below.

Cash Balancing Worksheet

Lists # customers this register/this EOD
Lists Cash/Checks collected with Over/Short info
Lists Bank Deposit amount
Lists non-deposit tender values
Provides for manual Over/Short Entry

Coupon / Gift Card Sales Section

Lists all coupons redeemed by type

Total Dollar Value
Total Unit Count

Lists all Gift Cards sold by type

Total Dollar Value
Total Unit Count

Category Sales Summary Information

Lists each category that had sales
Total units sold per category
Total dollars (retail) sold per category
Profit/Cost information is NOT printed on this report as we feel this may not be appropriate for a bookkeeping type report.

This report is going into its final beta testing phase and will be available in the next release of the ComCash Standard Enhanced Reports package. Don't forget ComCash ABP customers will receive this report for no charge. SUA fees apply.

Richard Stremlow does it again! After working with Richard on a customization request we are excited to announce the next Vertical Specific pack.

Party Store Birthday Reporting

The concept here is if the party store does birthday parties, sends birthday cards for members, or just wants an upcoming birthday list... we can now do it.

The package includes:

Upcoming Birthdays

Run this report by month to get a list of children with birthdays in that month

Party formatted Work Order

Scheduled parties will be stored in ComCash as a Work Order
Birthday, party, and child specific information will be on the 80 column formatted work order
After the party has been given you can invoice the work order and bill to the customer as normal

Upcoming Party Listing

List any upcoming parties
Uses work orders to report upcoming parties
Can be printed in advance, by month

Missed Party Listing

Lists any parties that were scheduled before today but have not been invoiced to the customer.

Upcoming Birthday Mailing Labels

The Upcoming Birthdays report in mailing label form
Used to send notices out to people that have upcoming birthdays

Upcoming Parties Mailing Labels

Used to send reminders to people with scheduled upcoming parties

Quotes and Estimates

A quote provides a customer with price for an item. They know that if they buy the item on the quote; this will be the price they pay. Now, if you have work to do and you want to provide your customer a document that will show the expected cost of this work, you would want to provide them with an estimate.

ComCash CAN handle quotes and estimates!

POS hidden feature:
Create a quote as normal in the POS but if you want the 'Quote' to say 'Estimate' on the printed document, check the Invoice UDF Check 1.

Enhanced 80 column invoice forms are set to use this logic. If you uncheck (just leave the UDF alone) the UDF, the word 'QUOTE' will be printed on the document. If you check the UDF, the word 'ESTIMATE' will be printed on the document. The POS will still allow you to access all saved quotes/estimates by using the recall quote feature of POS.

This feature requires an 80 column invoice format to have been installed. This WILL NOT effect a 40 column receipt.
